Neville and I were married on the 23rd of October, 1954 at St James' Church on Scott Road. The weather managed to stay dry (it had poured with rain the day before) until we were having photographs taken in the grounds of De La Salle College next door to the church. I had a bouquet of roses, lily of the valley and Stephanotis. The three bridesmaids in the picture were my sister Barbara, and friends Mary Clark and Janet Norledge. We had our reception at the Albany Hotel in the centre of Sheffield and spent our honeymoon in Falmouth.

Sylvia (nee Salt) lived on Firth Park Road from birth until she left home to start a job in catering at Malvern Girls College, where she met her future husband. She had a long connection to St James' Church on Scott Road, starting as a Brownie there in 1941 and ending up as a Sunday School teacher.
