We had our wedding reception in the school room at the church. I had wanted to make my own wedding dress but my mother wouldn't let me. So the local dressmaker made it, putting a bow on the back. She said that the back was what most people saw of the bride. My long veil was inspired by 'The Sound of Music' (and I would have liked to have The Sound of Music wedding march played, but it wasn't done then!). I had a bouquet of deep pink roses. It was October and the wind was blowing as we stepped out of the church! We went to Heysham for our honeymoon. Extract from an interview with Janice Gear, September 2006 |
