Sadia Nazir
Getting married in Pakistan, 2002© Carl Rose I remember being really anxious on the day I got married. I got up early at six in the morning and had a bath and waited until the afternoon to exchange my marriage vows. I was given a beautiful dress to put on and also lots of gold traditional jewellery to wear. I also had my hands decorated with henna. I felt really special because of all the decorative items I was wearing. It was an arranged marriage which I had a choice in. I was happy with the choice that my parents made for me. I prayed in my heart that God would bless me with a great marriage and, more than that, a beautiful person to complete me and the rest of my life. I feel that I have been lucky because I really have been blessed. The novelty of marriage was beautiful then and has remained with me today, which I also hope will last forever. Sadia got married in on 26th December, 2002 in Pakistan. She has been living in Burngreave now for a year and a half, having grown up in London. |
