Albert Bottom was a pupil at Pye Bank Primary school during the 1920s. His son still has the testimonial written by the headmaster for Albert just before he left school. This is what he would have presented to employers when looking for work. There is also a class photo from 1921 when Albert was around 11 years old. Albert is the third child from the right, squatting on the front row and looking very determined. Albert was fourteen when he left school. We don't know what his first job was but he later became a commercial traveller selling office equipment.
