We Carry It With Us

Tue 26 November 2024 - Sun 23 February 2025

Weston Park Museum

We Carry It With Us is a collection of works by photographer Jeremy Abrahams, featuring individuals who experienced bullying during their childhoods. Their portraits incorporate handwritten texts, allowing them to explain the impact in their own words.

The people photographed explain how their experiences of bullying have shaped them. In some cases, it has inspired them to fight for equality and empower others to embrace their heritage. For others, it is about accepting themselves, embracing the parts of them that others mocked or tried to make them ashamed of, and finding strength in their own voices.

This display includes references to discrimination, including racism, homophobia, and antisemitism.
