Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet

Enter the Counting House, where the foreman and his clerk carried out all the administrative work for the site. The setting you’ll see depicts the 1920s period just before the works was finally vacated.

Built around 1830, this is where the piece work produced by the workers was counted and where the payments were made to them.

***The Hamlet is currently closed for the winter until spring 2025. During this time, we'll be continuing work on Embrace Abbeydale, a two-year programme of improvement works generously supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.***

Joni, the Hamlet cafe, is open daily throughout the winter
