A joint venture initiative between Black Cultural Archives and Inclusive Boards, the Race in Heritage Award is the only initiative in the United Kingdom that recognises and awards Arts, Culture and Heritage organisations that are actively working to improve the representation, progression and succession of global majority staff and volunteers in the sector.
Level One award recipients have been independently assessed and recognised to be actively engaging with issues of race in the workplace across key themes of recruitment; engagement, communication and culture; and progressing talent from within.
Our ongoing work ranges from reviewing recruitment processes and exhibitions and displays to improving collaborative working to develop Sheffield's collections to better represent our diverse city. Following work with True Talk Africa to review our Ancient Egypt schools sessions and display, we continue to develop our learning and challenge preconceptions across all our work using and inspired by the city’s collections.
