Shepherd Wheel Workshop

See the working waterwheel in action.

Fed by a large dam, the 5.5m waterwheel provided power to both workshops at Shepherd Wheel, turning 20 grindstones and several glazing wheels.

The grindstones were used to create a fine, sharp cutting edge on the blade. The final smoothing of the blade was done on the glazing stones before they left Shepherd Wheel for polishing.
