Relaxed Performance: Emergence Collective – A Fusion of Birdsong and Minimalist Improvised Music

Sat 23 November 2024 , 3:30pm-4:30pm

Millennium Gallery

Imagine being a swift, draw swifts and make music together in this family friendly interactive concert with Emergence Collective.

You’ll see and hear an amazing array of instruments from clarinet to double bass, harp, dulcimer and more, performing improvised music with birdsong, as part of the Swift Sculpture exhibition at the gallery.

Plus there will be plenty of cushions and beanbags to lie down on and relax if you prefer!

Emergence Collective builds beautiful minimalist sound worlds that gradually evolve through improvised performance.  Each performance is unique – musicians respond to each other and the environment around them, performing on clarinet, voice, dulcimer, recorders, nyckelharpa and more.  This unique and special concert will also include another dimension – improvised musical dialogue with birdsong, in response to the Swift Sculpture display in the Millennium Gallery avenue.

This relaxed concert is for anyone who prefers a more informal experience of listening to live music.  Babies, young children and people with additional needs are all welcome – there’ll be cushions to sit and lie on and the opportunity to join in with playing music.
