Kelham Makes: Raku Taster Workshop

Sun 28 June 2026 , 12pm-12pm

Kelham Island Museum

Our popular ceramics workshop is back this summer, led by ceramicist Laura Lee.

Guided by Laura’s expertise, you will decorate bisque fired pots in different Raku glazes resulting in a variety of outcomes. You’ll learn several traditional glazing methods, creating two unique pieces of pottery approximately 8cm in height, which you’ll decorate and fire to take away with you.

These workshops are limited to over 18s and there will be nine participants per session, ensuring a rewarding hands-on interactive learning experience through focussed tuition.

Laura Lee creates wheel-thrown ceramic vessels are informed from shapes and textures found in local forests and woodlands. She practices the process of Raku and captures through various glazing techniques, movement and energy to her ceramic artworks. Her collections are intrinsically linked to environmental issues caused by damage to the natural world through climate change.
