Kelham Makes: How to Make a Terrarium

Sun 8 June 2025 , 10:30am-12pm

Kelham Island Museum

Create your own glass jar open terrarium with the guidance Emma Mcgeehan, founder of Orchis Floral.

A hands-on event focused on creating miniature gardens within a glass container. You’ll learn about terrarium ecosystems, layering techniques with soil, drainage, and decorative elements like moss and stones. You'll then put your learning into action, selecting small, suitable plants and designing your own unique enclosed garden under the guidance of Emma.

All necessary materials, including a glass vessel, plants, soil, and tools, are provided. The workshop offers a relaxing and creative experience, and you’ll leave with your own self-contained green space and the knowledge to care for it.

Emma Mcgeehan is a Master florist based in Sheffield. She started her event florist Orchis Floral Design twenty years ago and has a huge depth of knowledge to share
