Iftar at the Museum

Sun 15 March 2026 , 5:30pm-7:30pm

Kelham Island Museum

Join us for a special evening of community, food, and reflection at Iftar at the Museum. As the sun sets, we invite you to break your fast together with others at Kelham Island Museum.

The evening will feature engaging speakers, a communal iftar meal, an opportunity to pray, and time to meet and talk to others. This event is open to people of all faiths and backgrounds, and offers a meaningful space to celebrate the spirit of Ramadan—togetherness, generosity, and gratitude—in an inspiring environment.

Is this event open to everyone?
Yes! This event is open to people of all backgrounds and faiths. Whether you are observing Ramadan or simply interested in learning and sharing in the experience, you are welcome. Families and children are welcome too.

Do I need to be fasting to attend?
Not at all. You do not need to be fasting to participate in the event or enjoy the meal.

Will food be provided?
Yes, a communal iftar meal will be provided thanks to Indus Catering. All food will be halal. There will be a vegetarian option. Please let us know when you book your ticket if you have any allergies or dietary intolerances.

What time should I arrive?

Doors will open at 5.30pm. There will be welcome speeches staring around 6pm.

What time does iftar begin?
Iftar will begin at sunset, which will be 6.13pm on Sun 15 March. There will then be time to pray before the meal is served.

I’ve booked a ticket but can no longer attend – what should I do?

There are a limited number of tickets available, and this is a very popular event. If you can no longer attend, please cancel your ticket on Eventbrite so that your ticket can be made available for someone else and the food doesn’t go to waste. If you have any issues doing this, please email events@sheffieldmuseums.org.uk.

What is the ticket price?

This event is free to attend but as it’s expected to be very popular, we ask people to pre-book their ticket on Eventbrite. If you are able, please donate when you book your ticket – donations directly support Sheffield Museums and our work as a charity across the museums and the wider city, including the costs of putting on free events like this that bring people together.

Everything we do is made possible by you – please donate £5 to help tell stories that connect people with their history, the world around them and each other
